The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, Heads of Institutions (HOIs), accompanying teachers and education department officials representing various schools across Zone Khag. Representatives from the Office of the Chief Education Officer (CEO), the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Cluster Head Higher Secondary School Drang, the Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Khag, and the Zonal Education Planning Office (ZEPO), Khag, were also present.

The highlight of the programme was the distribution of Holistic Progress Cards among students for the first time at the zonal level in Zone Khag. The initiative was described as a significant step towards implementing the competency-based assessment system envisioned under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

ZEO and ZEPO Khag Emphasise Holistic Education and Enrolment Drive.During the programme, education department officials highlighted the importance of recognising students’ achievements, encouraging teachers and strengthening parents’ confidence in government schools to promote student enrolment.

Zonal Education Planning Officer (ZEPO), Khag, Abdul Majeed Rizvi, while speaking to the media, said the programme was an important initiative to encourage meritorious students and motivate them to achieve greater success in the future. He added that the efforts of teachers and Heads of Institutions, alongside students’ achievements, were also acknowledged.

Rizvi said one of the key objectives was to strengthen public confidence in government schools and encourage parents to enrol their children in government educational institutions. He expressed hope that the positive trend of increased enrolment witnessed last year would continue, with further improvement expected during the current year.

He further stated that an enrolment drive would be conducted on scheduled dates to encourage parents to choose government schools and review progress in student admissions.

Referring to NEP 2020, Rizvi emphasised that education should not be confined to examination results alone. Instead, it should focus on every child’s individual abilities, interests, skills and overall development.

He said regular Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) were held to discuss students’ academic progress, obtain feedback from parents and provide appropriate guidance. According to him, Holistic Progress Cards would help teachers and parents better understand students’ abilities, strengths and areas requiring additional academic support.

Education Is a Shared Responsibility: Irshad Ahmad
Irshad Ahmad, while interacting with the media, said improving the quality of education required the active participation of all stakeholders, including teachers, parents, School Management Committee (SMC) members, Heads of Institutions, students and the education department.

He said the programme aimed to promote a sense of shared responsibility towards children’s education rather than placing the entire burden on teachers or educational institutions alone.

He added that recognising students’ achievements and providing timely guidance could boost their confidence and motivate them to perform better.

According to Irshad Ahmad, Holistic Progress Cards would provide a comprehensive picture of students’ academic progress, abilities and learning needs, enabling teachers and parents to work together towards improved educational outcomes.

DIET Principal In-charge Fayyaz Ahmad Appreciates the Initiative.Fayaz Ahmad, Principal In-charge of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), appreciated the programme, describing it as an important step towards recognising students’ achievements and promoting a comprehensive system of educational assessment.

He said the participation of students from different schools across Zone Khag reflected the collective efforts being made to improve educational standards.

He emphasised that the distribution of Holistic Progress Cards would help shift the focus beyond conventional examination results towards students’ overall development, learning abilities and educational progress.

Fayaz Ahmad further stated that the programme was also linked to preparations for the upcoming enrolment drive, which is generally conducted during November and December. He expressed hope that such initiatives would strengthen parents’ trust in government schools and contribute to improved enrolment.

Cluster Head Appeals to Parents to Play an Active Role in Children’s Education
Sareer Ahmad Shah, Cluster Head of Government Middle School, Hamchipora, appealed to parents to take an active role in their children’s education and maintain regular communication with teachers and Heads of Institutions.

He said parental cooperation was essential for improving students’ attendance, academic performance, discipline and overall development.

Parents attending the programme expressed happiness over the recognition of their children’s achievements and welcomed the initiative of distributing Holistic Progress Cards. They said such programmes boost students’ confidence and encourage them to work harder.

The contributions of teachers, accompanying teachers and Heads of Institutions in guiding students and helping shape their future were also appreciated during the event.

According to the organisers, the initiative reflects the broader vision of NEP 2020, which emphasises competency-based education, continuous assessment, parental participation and the holistic development of children.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dar Ajaz Cultural Coordinator of Zone Khag, who expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests, participating schools, teachers, parents, students and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the event.

The programme ended with a renewed commitment to strengthening government schools, increasing student enrolment, recognising children’s achievements and ensuring quality, inclusive and child-centred education across Zone Khag.
