Srinagar,: The deadly virus on Sunday claimed 18 more lives including a six-month-old girl from Jammu and ASI ITBP in Jammu and Kashmir, thus taking the toll of deaths due to COVID-19 to 797 in the Union Territory.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that 18 patients who died include a 62-year-old man from Khawaja Bagh Baramulla, a 58-year-old man from Anantnag, an 80-year-old man from Devsar Kulgam, a 70-year-old man from Awantipora Pulwama, a 55-year-old man from Hawal Srinagar, a 45-year-old man from Watnar Kokernag, a 50-year-old man from Umar Colony Lal Bazar, a 70-year-old man from Nehru Park area of Srinagar, a 62-year-old man from Khan Sahib Budgam, a 38-year-old man from Chattabal Srinagar, a 55-year-old ITBP personnel from 21 Battalion, four from Jammu district, two from Kathua and one from Samba district.

An official from SKIMS Soura said that a patient from Khawaja Bagh Baramulla who was admitted on 05 September, a patient from Anantnag who was admitted on 06 September, a patient from Devsar Kulgam who was admitted on 06 September, a patient from Awantipora Pulwama who was admitted on 31 August, a patient from Hawal area of Srinagar who was admitted on 12 August, a patient from Watnar Kokernag Anantnag who was admitted on 05 September and a patient from Lal Bazar who was admitted on 22 August died on Sunday.

An official from SMHS Srinagar said that a patient from Nehru Park Srinagar who was admitted on 01 September with bilateral Pneumonia died on Sunday and an ASI of ITBP who was declared brought dead on arrival was tested positive for Covid-19 hours after his death.

An official from CD hospital said that a patient from Khan Sahib Budgam who was admitted on 01 September and a patient from Chattabal Srinagar who was admitted on 04 September died on Sunday.

An official from Jammu division told KNO that four patients from district including a six-month-old baby girl, two elders including a 78-year-old patient from Shakti Nagar and 73-year-old patient from Gujjar Mandi and one patient from Kangra Himachal Pradesh who was residing in Railway quarter Jammu died on Sunday.

He further added that two patients including a male patient from Billawar and a woman from Janglote area of Kathua district and a 42-old man from Samba died on Sunday.

With 18 more deaths, the toll in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 797 including 696 from Kashmir division and 101 from Jammu division
