Shopian, Mar 29: A common centres service VLE, Sheeraz Ahmad of a remote village of Shopian travelled around 70 km to SMHS Hospital Srinagar and registered an admitted patient under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) scheme.

The admitted patient is undergoing treatment in SMHS and within two hours after the registration, a golden card was issued to him.

The patient’s treatment is being facilitated before discharge and hospital authorities will ensure that no payment is collected from him.

Sheeraz Ahmad is himself a specially-abled person and said that he feels proud to serve the underprivileged of his society.

He has registered thousands of households under the said scheme in South Kashmir’s Shopian district so far where even internet connectivity is not available.

Sheeraz says that he understands the problems of others as he has undergone such circumstances as himself is handicapped.

Belonging to Nildoora village of Shopian, he helped a patient from Tulran to get a golden card to avail the benefit under Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

He was won hearts by leaving his own work and helping a person belonging to a poor family besides that he has received appreciation from higher-ups as well.

Minister for Communications, Electronics & Information Technology and Law & Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad said that every citizen of India is getting benefit under Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

“AyushmanBharat is benefiting each and every citizen across the country. CSC VLE Sheeraz Ahmad from J&K traveled 70kms from his centre to register senior citizens and patients under this scheme so that they can avail free medical treatment without any hassle,” Prasad tweeted—(KNO)
