Tally at 130,960, Four more deaths reported, toll 1,994; Active cases increase to 2,531 ; recovery rate decreases to 96.54 per cent

Srinagar, Mar 31: The Covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir continue to rise as 373 fresh positive cases—highest in the ongoing year—were reported on Wednesday pushing the number of active cases near 2,531 which otherwise were less than 600 a few weeks before. Four more people also died of the deadly pandemic in the past 24 hours.
The fresh four deaths pushed the total death toll to 1, 994. Active cases also continue to increase and recovery rate decreases with each passing day. 373 fresh positive cases reported on Wednesday pushed the tally of positive cases to 130,960.
Of the exact number of 130,960 cases, 78,019 are from Kashmir and 52,941 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 373 new cases, 300 belong to Kashmir division while as 73 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 78,019 including 74,891 recoveries and 1,258 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 52,941 including 51,544 recoveries and 736 deaths.
The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 2,531 including 1,870 from Kashmir division and 661 from Jammu division.
With 131 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 126,435 which is 96.54 percent of the total cases.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 159 from Srinagar, 63 from Baramulla, 26 from Budgam, 05 from Pulwama, 11 from Kupwara, 08 from Anantnag, 07 from Bandipora, 08 from Ganderbal, 12 from Kulgam and 01 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 73 from Jammu division include 45 from Jammu, 09 from Udhampur, 02 from Rajouri, 00 from Doda, 11 from Kathua, 03 from Samba, 00 from Kishtwar, 03 from Poonch, 00 from Ramban and 00 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.
As per officials figures, 29,062 positive cases including 472 deaths and 27,539 recoveries are from Srinagar, 8,848 including 180 deaths and 8,319 recoveries are from Baramulla, 8,208 including 7,926 recoveries and 120 deaths are from Budgam, 5,992 including 5,818 recoveries and 92 deaths are from Pulwama, 5,807 including 97 deaths and 5,640 recoveries are from Kupwara, 5,175 including 5,042 recoveries and 94 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,763 cases including 4,672 and 62 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,717 including 4,647 recoveries and 47 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,799 including 2,703 recoveries and 54 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,648 including 2,585 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Shopian.
In Jammu division, 25,912 including 25,047 recoveries and 381 deaths are from Jammu district, 4,361 including 4,277 recoveries and 57 deaths are from Udhampur, 3,895 including 3,827 recoveries and 55 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,455 including 3,386 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Doda, 3,329 including 3,227 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Kathua, 2,861 including 2,802 recoveries and 41 deaths are from Samba, 2,756 including 2,717 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,548 including 2,502 recoveries and 26 deaths are from Poonch, 2,159 including 2,117 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Ramban and 1,665 including 1,642 recoveries and 16 deaths are from Reasi.
As per the daily information bulletin 1,507,692 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 29,291 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 2,531 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 1,351,368 persons have completed surveillance period and 122,508 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 6,051,587 samples are available. Out of 6,051,587 the number of samples tested negative stands at 5,920,627 while as 130,960 have tested positive, among them 2,531 persons are active, 126,435 persons have recovered and 1,994 persons have died—(KNO)
