Anatnag, Apr 09:- The Anantnag Working Journalist Association (AWJA) today elected its new President after the elections that were conducted on April 6 took a turn when both running candidates gained 24 votes each.
Today after re-poll announced by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Anantnag ( Chief Election Observer) Sayed Yasir Kubravi, Shah Tariq gained 26 votes out of 45 votes. A total of 45 members exercised their right through a secret ballot.
The Association had already elected Sahil Suhail and Fayaz Lolu as its General Secretary and Vice-President respectively.

After results were declared, all three elected office bearers of the Association were administered oath by District Information officer, Khan Zada Mohammad Usman.
On the occasion the newly elected President expressed his gratitude towards the members of association and said that every member of the association will have an equal say during his tenure for the betterment of the association.
DIO, Khan also on the occasion, congratulated the winners and urged the president to work in close coordination with the department.
A number of senior journalists too graced the occasion and told the newly-elected body that they will have to out-perform the expectations of the association and also will have to take active steps for the safety and security of young journalists.
The elections, conducted at the Dakbanglow, were monitored by the district administration.
The Election Committee comprising of senior Journalists Mudasir Qadri, Zahoor Rizvi, Arif Wani, Deen Imran , Zulfi Masood and Muneeb-ul-Islam was also appreciated for conducting smooth, free and fair elections of AWJA. The Committee thanked the members of AWJA and all the contestants for their coordination and co-operation in making the Elections remarkable.
