Swimming, bathing banned in Madhumati Nallah in Bandipora

Bandipora, Jun 10: Authorities in this North Kashmir Bandipora district has put a ban on swimming and bathing activities in nallah Madhumatti as “a measure to safeguard the precious lives.”

An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the flow in Nallah Madhumatti increases tremendously in summers and few people especially children venture out for swimming and bathing in the said Nallah thereby putting their lives to avoidable risk. This trend has resulted in loss of lives by drowning in the past, he said.

An order issued by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora in this regard, reads that In view of the above, and as a precautionary measure to safeguard the precious lives, it is hereby ordered that there shall be complete ban on swimming and bathing in Nallah Madhumatti, with immediate effect, till further orders.

The order said that the Tehsildar (Executive Magistrate 1 Class), Bandipora, SHO Bandipora, Assistant Executive Engineer, 1&FC, Bandipora, and Assistant Director, Fisheries, Bandipora, shall ensure strict vigil alongside the banks of the Nallah Madhumatti and implementation of this order in letter and spirit—(KNO)
