Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration Spokesperson Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami told news agency Kashmir News Trust that he was informed by policemen that he is under house arrest and he can’t move out. “The gate of my quarter has been locked by the police,” Tarigami said.

He said PAGD had already announced a peaceful protest today against the biased unconstitutional draft of Delimitation Commission in which it has proposed 6 additional seats to Jammu and one to Kashmir.

“The intentions are very clear. Government of India by using Delimitation Commission wants to disempower us,” Tarigami said.

Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah while posting couple of photographs on social media showing a police vehicle parked right in front of the gate of his house and the locked gate of his father Dr Farooq Abdullah tweeted with a good morning wish.

“Good morning & welcome to 2022. A new year with the same J&K police illegally locking people in their homes & an administration so terrified of normal democratic activity. Trucks parked outside our gates to scuttle the peaceful JKPAGD sit-in protest. Some things never change.”

In another tweet he said: “Talk about a lawless police state, the police have even locked the internal gate connecting my father’s home to my sister’s. Yet our leaders have the cheek to tell the world that India is the largest democracy, hah!!”

Former Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who is also part of PAGD retweeted the tweet of Omar Abdullah. (KNT)
