Anantnag:- Residents of Anderwan Alchiward in Anantnag area staged a protest demonstration on friday against the shortage of drinking water supply from last several years.
The aggrieved residents including women and children shout slogans against Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for failing to provide them water supply to area.
Residents alleged that water is being supplied through water tankers. “We have to wait for water tankers and sometimes we consume tube well water. Such is our plight in 21st century”, said an elderly protester.
Locals further said that we have approached many times to concerned officials they assured but nothing was done on ground level .
Residents said pipe line in half area of Tangwaed was laid by PHE and still pending in Anderwan and Alchiward due to which residents face inconvenience.
Residents have appealed to District as well LG adminstration for intervention in this regard and solve problem as soon as possible so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile in this regard when concerned AEE PHE Mohammad Ayoub was contacted he said that new lift scheme under JJM has been framed for Anderwan for which tendering is under progress and work will be start from April 2022.
