Anantnag, Feb, 20: Police have seized 13 vehicles for illegal mining and extraction of minerals in Dooru area of Anantnag district on Sunday.

13 vehicles were seized during illegal extraction in Dooru Anantnag .SHO Syed Nazir Andrabi along with team launched a drive to enforce the ban on illegal material extraction from Brengi Nallah and Nallah Sandran in Anantnag district.

After specific inputs of illegal extraction in zaldoora Shankerpora and Jaal Kreeri area of dooru area was raided by SHO Dooru. During the raid 5 JCB’s 4 Tippers 2 dumpers and 2 tractors loaded with illegally extracted boulders were seized. These vehicles were carrying material extracted from Nallah Brengi Nallah Sandran and other streams of the area.

Police claimed FIR has been lodged against accused persons involved in Mineral extraction.

Locals said that many times we have approached to Geology and Mining but all in vain nothing was done on ground level and fails to take action against Violators.

Locals Said due to illegal extraction of sand, gravel and boulders from the streams and nallahs not only Government is losing revenue but the constructed protection bunds on the said streams and nallahs also get damaged, he added.

In this regard FIR U/s 08/22 ,09/22,11/22 has been launched and further investigation has been initiated.

On the occasion, SHO said that legal action would be taken against violators involved in the illegal material extraction.Police appeal to general public for co operation against illegal extraction Mafia.
