Anantnag: Department of Forest Range Kokernag seized 82 Sqft of illegal timber from Compartment No 67 V in Kokernag area of south Kashmir while also registering a case in this regard.
The Range Officer Kokernag,along with special team and other officials of the department, after receiving a tip-off swung into action and seized 82 Sqft illegal timber in 67 V Compartment.The operation of illict timber Seizure conducts by beat staff of Bindoo zalangam and B.O Syed Mohd.Yousuf under the supervision of Peerzada Riyaz Ahmad.FPF were also include in an Operation an official said
He said illicit kail Round 10 logs of 82 cft from Compartment 67/V beat Bindoo Zalangam of Kokernag Block were seized. .
He further added after recieving tip of smugglars we raided spot and due to darkness they smugglars took advantage to flee from spot however we recovered illict timber as well as Axe,saw etc.The timber has been lifted under cover of Form 25 to Seizure DEPOT Kokernag.
Range Officer Peerzada Riyaz said that the department is committed to stopping such illegal activities and at the same time will ensure that the violators are brought to book such drives would be conducted in coming days to protect the green gold.he added
