Anantnag, Apr 22: The residents of Sarimarg Gujjar-Basti in Tanjloo area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district had to carry a patient on a cot and walk few kilometers on foot to reach the nearest hospital due to lack of road connectivity.
Reports reaching to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) revealed that an accident victim from Sarimarg Gujjar-Basti Panchayat halqa Tanjloo was suffering from pain and was taken to the hospital on a cot due to lack of proper roads.
Locals from the area said that school-going children, elderly people, and patients are the worst victims.
Liqayat Ahmad, an elderly brother of patient, said that the government is falsely claiming to have connected all villages with tehsil and district headquarters. “Due to lack of road connectivity, we have to walk on foot through hilly terrains to reach nearby hospital”, he said.
“Not only bureaucrats but the politicians who had come here for votes also left this issue unattended,” he said.
He said that the residents knocked on doors of all high ranking officials several times, but their repeated pleas fell on deaf ears. Bashir Ahmad Wani, Sarpanch of the area said said that people are suffering here as there is no proper road connectivity.
“The government had sanctioned the bridge on the rivulet years ago but it is still incomplete as the work has not started yet, thereby making people suffer immensely.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Dooru Ghulam Rasool told KNO that four roads have been already constructed in the area but the main road construction needs approval of forest department as it is involving forest land and file has been already submitted—(KNO)
