Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Manzoor Ahmad Kanoon, President of All Kashmir Wholesale Mutton Dealers Association (AKWMDA), said that the demand for meat this year remained less as compared to the previous years.

“A total of 650 trucks of sheep reached Kashmir in the last one week. Nearly 97,000 sheep were brought from outside markets on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr,” Kanoon said, adding that the rates in the outside markets were high compared to the government rates in Jammu and Kashmir.

“As per the figure, the meat worth over Rs 97 crore has been sold on this Eid,” he said, adding that the demand in the markets remained too low compared to the previous years.

Notably, unlike previous years, the markets witnessed less hustle bustle on this Eid.

The crescent moon was not sighted anywhere in Kashmir last evening and thus the Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow (Tuesday) across Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir Grand Mufti, Nasir-ul-Islam said—(KNO)
