Bandipora, May 18: A Carpet workshop and a double-storey house were completely gutted in a mysterious fire incident in Sadunara village of Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday late evening, locals said.
They told GNS that fire broke out in the carpet workshop belonging to Mohd Ayoub Wagay and in a two-storey house of duo, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, and Shahbaz Ahmad Khan of Potu Mohalla, in Sadunara village.
They said, soon after getting tip off, Army responded immediately and reached the incident location, with Soldiers of 13 RR Ajas Camp. Civil fire-tender, with active help from Army, was able to douse the fire.
However, locals said carpets worth lakhs were completely destroyed and houses gutted in the mysterious fire incident.
They have appealed administration to depute a team of officials to the spot to access the losses suffered by the owners and provide them early compensation.
Meanwhile, locals of Sadunara village thanked the 13 RR Soliders in general and Major Abhinav in particular for timely action in controlling the raging fire, which could have spread and caused major damage to human life and property in the area.
Moreover, the cause of mysterious fire was yet to be asserted. (GNS)
