Sopore, May 22: Unfold Press on Sunday held its first correspondents meeting at Jehlum Photography Club (JPC) office in Sopore town in which 15 correspondents and editors of the Unfold team participated.
During the function, editors and reporters spoke at length about their experiences in media and many reporters put-forth their suggestions for the expansion of the network which the management agreed to work upon.
The Unfold founder Bilal Ahmed Dar emphasized quality reporting, says Unfold Press is of everyone and we should always be supportive of one another. “Unfold Press is there to make a presence and impact in journalism in Kashmir, so you all are here to be a part of this change,” the founder said.
Waris Fayaz, the chief editor of the organisation cautioned the reporters against misuse of social media and suggested they not fall prey to the digital fantasy and be always a responsible journalists while putting out any material on social media.
Raashid Altaf, who looks at the overall Multimedia section, says it was remarkable to see the enthusiasm of the fellows joining the hands to Seek-Report-Unfold. Unfold Press is a mission to serve humanity through journalism. We believe in a free press and quality journalism, he told the reporters.
Similarly, Abid Shahin – who works as an editor here acknowledges the goals of Unfold Press, says we believe in work culture and together we grow and can make a change.
Tajamul Rehman, co-founder of this organisation said that Unfold soon will organize media literacy events to educate the general population about the Journalism profession and how to remain aware of pseudo-journalists.
“We will be hiring internees in future and will try to maintain an image of this noble field”, he added.
Apart from the editorial board, reporters across the valley including Hakeem Junaid, Aqib Nazir, Mohsin Mir, Dar Shahid, Mohammed Waseem , Arsh Raina, Athar Najar, Saleem Qadri, Arsalan Ayub and Annan Malla, were present on the occasion.
