Srinagar, Nov 7: Authorities failed to facilitate safe commuter movement while shifting the Children’s Hospital from Sonwar to the busy Bemina bypass here in Srinagar.

The lack of a foot-over bridge and medical shops outside the hospital is the source of nuisance for the attendants. There is every chance of a road accident outside the hospital road as attendants and patients are crossing the bypass without any foot-over bridge or Zebra-Crossing.

Recently, the Government shifted the Children’s Hospital from Sonwar to Srinagar. The attendants have been facing multiple problems in the newly inaugurated hospital.

The attendants told news agency Kashmir News Trust that there is a strong case for installing a foot-over bridge outside the hospital for safe commuting. “The hospital is outside the bypass where vehicles pass without any dynamic speed limit. The spot is prone to accidents and to avoid those, the government should install a foot-over bride like we have one outside JVC or Government College for Women on MA Raod,” they said adding that authorities must address the issue at the earliest.

The attendants also said that they are finding it hard to get the required medicine prescribed by the medicos as there are no chemist shops outside the hospital.

“Government must allow chemists to run the shops outside the hospital so that medicines are available for the patients,” one of the attendants said.

Attendants who visit the hospital from far-flung areas are forced to eat in the open as there is no designated place for them. “Only those who are allowed to take their personal food in the canteen who pay for it. I was having my food with me and ate it in open,” said an attendant.

Meanwhile, a medico on condition of anonymity said that even doctors don’t have hostel facilities in the hospital. (KNT)
