Srinagar, December 25: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a militant associate along with pistol and ammunition in Mendhar area of Poonch district.
In a handout to GNS, the police said that on 25th of December a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police and Indian Army in general area of Salwa and Behra area of mendhar and during search operation one person namely Tayab Khan son of Mohd Khalil khan resident of Salwa who is also an OGW coming from forest area was asked to stop to which he tried to ran away . Security forces in a tactical manner apprehended him and during his search one pistol along with eight rounds were recovered from his possession.
In this regard FIR no 298/2022 us 7/25 Indian arms act,18/23 UAPA act,120/121/122 ipc has been registered in police station Mendhar and investigation taken up, reads the statement.(GNS)
