The members remembered that the day also commemorates the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa to Mumbai on 9 January 1915.

NCDC Faculty Sudha Menon also remembered that it is essential to establish a proper network of Indians living abroad in 110 different nations.

Master Trainer of NCDC Baba Alexander opined that the government has to take initiative to discuss about the challenges that Indian workers encounter when working abroad.

He said that, “Proper initiatives also have to be taken to rectify their problems. They voting rights should be ensured with digital advancements.”

“Hence, they have to be given the due respect they ought to get, so that they receive the same respect in the countries they work in.”

NCDC Program Coordinator Dr Suthi Ganesh told that it is also important to educate the general public on the contribution that immigrants have made to India’s positive international relations.

NCDC Administrator Mohammed Risvan suggested that all the international airports should have Indian embassy counters for supporting the overseas Indian community.
