Pulwama, Aug 19: A young girl from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has entered the Indian Book of Records after creating three traditional Kashmiri items and an apple in the mandala art.

Aqsa Mohi Uddin Ahanger, 19, a resident of Kuchmulla Tral, has made pieces of different items to promote Kashmiri culture and tradition.

Currently pursuing B.Sc from Government Degree College (GDC) Tral, Aqsa while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said she learned mandala art from her father.

I was interested in this art since childhood but started making art pieces only a year ago, she said, adding, “I used to make paintings for a long time, but started making mandala art pieces last year.”

I improvised myself in this field of art and succeeded in it, Aqsa said. “When I made Pheran, Kangri and Samovar in mandala art, I applied for the Indian Book of Records and after being verified by the team, I got confirmation of entry along with their appreciation, Alhamdulillah,” she said.

Aqsa said she had a passion to promote Kashmir and its culture across the world, and this “small step” has given her “utmost satisfaction”.

Thanking her parents for unconditional support, Aqsa said, “They encourage me in this art as well as education.”

Her message is: “Be consistent in any field you are trying to conquer and never lose hope. Follow your passion with hard work and dedication; you will definitely achieve the goal.”—(KNO)
