New Delhi, Mar, 04: As part of the ‘One Vehicle, One Fastag’ initiative, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and RBI mandated users to undergo the KYC (Know Your Customer) process.

The deadline for KYC was initially set for February 29, after a month-long extension. Yesterday marked the final opportunity for users to complete this process.

Rumours were that NHAI would extend the date for another month making March 31 as the last date. However, we didn’t receive any official notification. TOI Tech also called NHAI’s toll-free number “1033” and confirmed that the date hasn’t been extended.

What will happen if Fastag KYC is incomplete?

According to the guidelines, Fastags with incomplete KYC will get blacklisted and will stop working going forward. This means users can no longer be able to make toll payments using their existing Fastag.

If you are not sure whether your Fastag is currently active or has KYC, here are the steps you need to follow:

Steps for Fastags issued by NHAI

  • Visit https://fastag.ihmcl.com
  • Login
  • Update KYC Online

Steps for Fastags issued by banks and other financial institutions
1. https://www.netc.org.in/request-fornetc-fastag
2. Under Request for NETC FASTag, Select your FASTag issuer bank and click on the visit the website link.

3. Login to the respective FASTag issuer bank

4. Update KYC Online

Fastag’s official website clearly mentions “In case you have not received any notification or reminder from your bank that means your KYC is complete and no action is required from your end.”

This means, if you have not received any notification from your bank, then KYC is complete.

How to check the status of your Fastag

  • Visit “https://www.npci.org.in/what-we-do/netc-fastag/check-your-netc-fastag-status”
  • Enter vehicle registration number
  • Enter Captcha and click “Check Status” button at the bottom
  • This will show you two things — all the Fastags registered to the vehicle along with their status.(TOI)
