Police arrests 02 bootleggers in Kulgam; recovers 34 bottles of illicit liquor

Kulgam, June 01:Continuing its drive against inimical elements, police in Kulgam have arrested two bootleggers and recovered 34 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession.

A police party led by SHO Police Station Qazigund during patrolling at Chaimula crossing Qazigund intercepted two suspicious persons carrying gunny bags. They have been identified as Irshad Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat resident of Batingoo, Anantnag and Amir Ahmad Sofi son of Mohd Jabbar Sofi resident of Gur Veeri Bijebhara, Anantnag. During search, officers were able to recover 34 bottles of illicit liquor filled in the said bags from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 154/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti-social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti-social activities will be dealt as per law.
