Patriotic fervor grips Kupwara as over 10,000 people participate in massive Tiranga Mela ahead of Independence Day

Kupwara, Aug 8; In the run up to Independence Day, a massive ‘Tiranga Mela’ was organized by District administration Kupwara at Galizoo sports stadium which saw an enthusiastic participation of more than 10,000 people.

The mega ‘Tiranga Mela’ was a part of independence day celebrations, 2024/ SVEEP/ Swachhata Pakhwada campaign to encourage people to foster a sense of patriotism combining civic responsibility, cleanliness among citizens, encourage voter participation and educate citizens about their electoral rights and duties.

The massive Tiranga Mela held at Galizoo sports stadium, overlooking the scintillating thick green forests of Lolab, was a vibrant display of National unity and patriotism where citizens , students from different schools, officers and officials of district administration participated enthusiastically. Stadium presented a festive atmosphere as the sight of the tricolor flags in the stadium amplified the festive spirit making Tiranga Mela a memorable and inspiring event for all attendees.

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan (IAS) led the massive Tiranga Mela.Event began with singing of the National anthem to instill a sense of unity and pride followed by Swachhta Pledge which was administered by the Deputy Commissioner. Participants took a pledge to keep their surroundings clean and contribute to the Swachh Bharat (clean India) Mission. Students sang various patriotic songs on the occasion.

To promote environmental sustainability, national unity, encourage communities to plant more trees, improve green cover and foster a sense of responsibility towards the environment, DC Kupwara led the plantation drive on the theme “Ek Ped Shaheedo ke Naam” by planting Deodar tree saplings in the premises of sports stadium.

SSP Kupwara, Shobhit Saxena, ADC Kupwara, Mohamamd Rouf Rehman and CEO Kupwara also planted the tree saplings.

On the occasion, The Deputy Commissioner said that The Tricolour is flying high in Kupwara district and it’s streets and villages are filled with enthusiasm. She said that large numbers of people are coming out to participate in Tiranga rallies which signify a growing sense of national pride and unity in the district. The Deputy Commissioner has extended an invitation to all the citizens of Kupwara district to participate enthusiastically in Independence Day celebration and other programs.

The mega Tiranga Mela was attended by district officers, officials, citizens, and students of different educational institutions.
