Among other key figures notable present in the session were Dr. Ajeet Singh Salaria, IPS, DIG Traffic Range Kashmir, and Shri Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, SSP Traffic City Srinagar.

The seriousness of the topics discussed was such that it highlighted the rise in the rate of traffic congestion and the high incidence of accidents, apart from the need for a better regimen in traffic regulations as well as resources.

A detailed presentation by SSP Shah gave an in-depth and comprehensive overview of the current traffic scenario and the existing management practices in the region.

As underlined by IGP Choudhary, these are issues that will have to be addressed through a collective effort of the traffic authorities and all other stakeholders.

He suggested working out strategies locally in consonance with the recommendations of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in issues related to road safety.

The IGP requested the gathering of all supervisory officers to redouble coordination and concentrate on putting up common, effective solutions.

At the end of the meeting, there was a resolve to ensure better road safety and traffic management through enhanced cooperation and better organization.— (KB)
