KULGAM, JANUARY 4: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, convened a meeting today with concerned officers to review the progress of the implementation of the PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana in the district.

The scheme, aimed at enhancing rooftop solar capacity, empowers residential households to generate their own electricity with significant financial support from the government.

During the meeting, it was reported that a large number of applications have already been received for the installation of rooftop solar systems in the district. Additionally, five villages have been identified for the establishment of Model Solar Villages, which will be eligible for substantial grants after an assessment, to help facilitate their transition to sustainable energy solutions.

The DC emphasized the importance of increasing registrations under the scheme and instructed relevant departments to launch widespread awareness campaigns.

KPDCL was specifically directed to conduct door-to-door outreach to mobilize maximum participation and raise awareness about the benefits of the scheme.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Joint Director Planning (JDP), Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Superintending Engineer KPDCL, Executive Engineer KPDCL, representatives from JKEDA, Tehsildars, and other concerned officers.
