The Caring People Welfare Trust, based in Beerwah, Budgam, Kashmir, has continued its dedication to the welfare of the people in Kashmir through numerous impactful initiatives throughout the year 2024. Our mission to empower the underprivileged and support communities in need has remained steadfast, and we are proud to share the remarkable outcomes of our programs over the last year.
The Caring People Welfare Trust remains committed to improving the lives of people across Kashmir, particularly those in vulnerable situations. With the continued support of our donors and volunteers, we look forward to further expanding our efforts in the coming year.
In 2024, we organized food distribution drives seven times, reaching more than 1300 families across Kashmir. These efforts were made possible by the generous contributions of our supporters. During the holy month of Ramadan, we distributed 200 Eid kits to families in need, ensuring they could celebrate with dignity. Our commitment to the fight against cancer continued with direct support for 7 cancer patients and their families, offering them not only financial assistance but also emotional and medical support.
Through our artisan centers, we provided training to 850 girls across various crafts, creating avenues for financial independence. In addition, we facilitated employment opportunities, with 270 girls* securing jobs in our sewing centers. The Sozni*,Crewel, and Tilla work centers empowered over 800 artisans, preserving Kashmiri heritage while ensuring that artisans were able to sustain themselves economically.
In the field of healthcare, we conducted 15 medical camps, serving 1200 patients. These camps provided free medical check-ups, consultations, and medicines. Moreover, 750 ear machines and other artificial aids were distributed to people in need, ensuring they had the resources to lead a better life. The Trust also donated 50 wheelchairs to disabled individuals, improving their mobility and quality of life.
Our educational programs remained a cornerstone of our work. The Trust operated 9 education centers across various districts, offering free education to children. We also supported 500 students with school stationery and provided 200 students with school shoes, ensuring that they had the tools needed for a successful education. In addition, 18 students received educational assistance in the form of scholarships and study materials, empowering them to continue their studies.
Our women empowerment initiatives in 2024 spanned all of Kashmir, focusing on training, skill development, and self-reliance. The Trust established 3 shops for widows, providing them with sustainable livelihoods. Furthermore, 70 girls were supported with marriage assistance, ensuring they were able to build secure futures.
The Trust’s commitment to relief efforts was evident in our responses to natural disasters and emergencies. We distributed winter kits to 200 families in need, twice during the year. Our relief programs also extended to fire victims in Kishtawar Warwan Valley, Khag, and Kupwara, where we provided much-needed support to those affected by devastating fires.
In addition to these programs, we organized 12 awareness campaigns on social issues, conducted 15 religious programs, and provided 5 tricycles to patients in need. Our support during Ramadan also included organizing Iftari events for hospitals in Budgam, bringing comfort to patients and healthcare workers alike.
