Kulgam, Jan, 21: A tragic incident unfolded in Gudder, a village in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, where a mother died 17 days after her son succumbed to suffocation caused by charcoal fire fumes. Fameeda Akhter, who was hospitalized on January 2 following the incident, passed away on Tuesday from injuries sustained in the suffocation.
On January 2, Fameeda Akhter and her 25-year-old son, Nisar Ahmad Khan, were found unconscious at their home due to the toxic fumes from a charcoal fire. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, and later referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Nisar Ahmad Khan passed away two days after the incident. Unfortunately, Fameeda Akhter, who had been undergoing prolonged treatment, succumbed to her injuries on January 21.
