Budgam, Feb 18: In a bid to curb traffic violations and enhance road safety, the Rural Kashmir Traffic Police launched a special enforcement drive on Wednesday in Magam, Budgam under the supervision of SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Pal Singh, along with DSP Traffic Nazir Mujahed and other traffic police officials.

During the drive, on-the-spot fines were imposed on several offenders, including motorcyclists without helmets, triple riders, overloaded passenger vehicles, and vehicles lacking fitness certificates. Strict action was taken against reckless driving, overspeeding, and violations of safety norms.

Addressing the public, SSP Ravinder Pal Singh emphasized the importance of road safety, urging motorists to wear helmets and seat belts and warning of strict action against those flouting traffic rules. He also underscored the legal consequences for parents who allow minors to drive without valid licenses.

Traffic violators were also sensitized about the Motor Vehicles Act and road safety regulations to minimize the risk of accidents.

Authorities have assured that such drives will continue across rural Kashmir to ensure better compliance with traffic laws and safeguard commuters on the roads. [KNT]
