Verification of Imams, mosques aimed at safeguarding religious properties: Waqf chairperson

Srinagar, Feb 25: As Kashmir has long been home to immense talent, and Munfa Mushtaq, a young artist from Frisal in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, is adding to this legacy with her exquisite embroidery designs and handmade crafts.

Munfa discovered her passion for embroidery through YouTube and started pursuing it in 2019. She now designs and creates a variety of handcrafted items, including baby dresses, customized embroidery hoops, birthday gifts, and car-hanging keychains.

Speaking to news agency JKNS, Munfa said, “I am inspired by creativity and the joy of making unique, handmade items. Seeing people smile when they receive a special, customized gift or a cozy woolen dress makes me happy,” she said, adding that she enjoys working with colors, textures, and designs.

A sixth-semester student, Munfa runs Woolen Craft by Midhat, where she showcases her embroidery work, customized gifts, and woolen baby dresses. Alongside her passion for crafts, she aspires to become a great Islamic scholar in the future.

She credits her parents, especially her father, for supporting her journey in handmade crafts.

“My message to the youth of Kashmir is to work on their passion and not fall prey to criticism. Criticism is a key to identifying mistakes and improving,” she said. (JKNS)
