The action comes after repeated complaints by residents regarding blatant violations of the Ribbon Development Act (RD Act) in both Town “A” (Main Town Kulgam) and Town “B” (Chawalgam). Locals have been raising concerns over the past few months, urging authorities to step in and enforce the law.

The site visit led to immediate cessation of the unauthorized construction, signaling a strong response from the district administration to prevent further encroachments and ensure proper urban planning.

Despite the recent intervention, locals from both towns continue to appeal to the Deputy Commissioner for sustained oversight and strict action against ongoing and future violations of construction norms. Residents emphasized the need for transparency and accountability to preserve the planned development of Kulgam.

Officials have reiterated their commitment to addressing illegal constructions and have assured that further inspections will follow to curb such activities across the district.
