Srinagar, May 6: In the wake of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, security forces in Kashmir Valley are intensifying their search operations, leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of the attackers.

The attack, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals on April 22, remains fresh in the minds of many, and the joint forces are determined to bring those responsible to justice.

“During a combing and search operation in the forests around the Basaran Valley, security forces apprehended a suspicious individual yesterday. The suspect, later identified as Ahmed Bilal, was wearing a bulletproof jacket cover at the time of his capture. When questioned by the security forces, Bilal gave evasive and unclear answers. The suspect was also unable to explain where he got the bulletproof jacket cover from. Following this, the security personnel handed the suspect over to the police. The security forces handed him over to the police for a mental health evaluation. The police are currently assessing the suspect’s mental condition as well.”

Meanwhile, another key development has emerged in the investigation. On May 3, the joint operation team arrested 23-year-old Imtiaz Ahmad Magray, a resident of Tangimarg in Kulgam, who allegedly provided logistical support to the terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack. According to official sources, Magray confessed during interrogation to supplying food and resources to the assailants. He also agreed to guide security personnel to a suspected hideout used by the terrorists.

However, during a subsequent joint search operation, Magray attempted to flee. “Imtiaz Attempted to Escape and Drowned” — he ran toward a nearby river and jumped into the fast-flowing current before forces could intervene. The incident, which was caught on camera, confirmed that Magray had deliberately leaped into the water and was swept away.

The Pahalgam attack continues to reverberate throughout the country, prompting swift and firm action from the Indian government on multiple fronts. In addition to security crackdowns, India has adopted a hardline diplomatic stance against Pakistan, holding it responsible for cross-border terrorism.

“From the Indus Water Treaty suspension to closing its airspace for all Pakistani commercial and private flights, India has given a befitting reply to Pakistan’s government. These drastic steps taken by the Indian government will bring Pakistan’s economy to a standstill, only worsening the country’s current situation.”

India has also formally approached the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to reconsider loan disbursements to Pakistan, citing concerns over its alleged support for terrorist networks.–(ABP News)
