Speaking on the occasion, Rana said the National Conference (NC) welcomes the decision of both India and Pakistan to engage in dialogue to resolve ongoing issues.

“Although a ceasefire is in place, Poonch has suffered heavy losses due to shelling. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah personally visited the affected families. The NC firmly believes that talks are the only way forward, and we appreciate both nations for agreeing to sit together,” Rana said.

He added that suggestions from civil society members have been taken into account and final decisions regarding relief measures will be made in the upcoming cabinet meeting.

“The families who lost their loved ones will receive compensation, and appointments under SRO-43 are also under consideration,” he said.

Notably, Rana was part of the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with civil society members in Poonch to review the damage caused by the shelling. (KNS)
