The accused has been identified as Barkat Ahmad War, son of Sanaullah War, resident of Zaloora, and a driver by profession. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had forged the identity card to impersonate a police official—an act likely intended to deceive the public and misuse the name of the police department for personal advantage.
Accordingly, FIR No. 32/2025 under Sections 205, 319(2) of BNS has been registered at Police Station Bomai, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive, possible misuse, and any wider links involved.
Sopore Police reiterates that impersonation of law enforcement personnel is a serious offence and will be dealt with firmly. The public is advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior or fraudulent activities.
