Kupwara, July 11: In observance of World Population Day, a district-level event was organized today at ANMT School Kupwara under the aegis of the Deputy Chief Medical Officer Kupwara. The event saw enthusiastic participation from ASHA workers, healthcare professionals, and officials from the Health Department.
This year’s theme, “To Leave No One Behind, Count Everyone”, underscored the importance of inclusive and data-driven approaches to population and health planning.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, Dr. Masrat Iqbal Wani, highlighted the pivotal role of grassroots health workers in addressing population-related challenges. In his keynote address, Dr. Wani stated,
“Population stabilization is not just a statistical need, it is the foundation for a healthier, more sustainable future. ASHAs and frontline health workers are the true change-makers in this journey.
He further emphasized the need for enhanced awareness on family planning, maternal health, and adolescent education to ensure a balanced and informed society.
The event featured informative sessions on reproductive health, distribution of IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) materials, and an open forum for health workers to share field experiences and challenges.
The Dy CMO Kupwara lauded the efforts of the ASHA workers and reiterated the department’s commitment to strengthening outreach and community health services across the district.
The day concluded with a pledge to intensify efforts in public health education and population welfare through collaborative community participation.
