Speaking to the media, Vivek Bali stated that the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir has been severely affected, especially following the recent Pahalgam attack on tourists. “Tourism has suffered a huge blow, and places like Wular Lake, which hold immense potential, continue to be neglected,” he said.

During their visit, the SBSP leaders interacted with local residents, particularly the fishermen community that relies heavily on Wular Lake for their livelihood. Bali pointed out that the people of Bangladesh village have been deprived of basic amenities such as proper road infrastructure, access to drinking water, and employment opportunities for the youth.

“Our main aim is to boost and revive tourism in Wular Lake, a location known for its scenic beauty, rich aquatic life, and water chestnuts,” Bali stated. He appealed to both national and international tourists to visit the area and experience its natural charm.

Bali further urged the government to take immediate action to address the challenges faced by local shikara owners and fishermen. “They feel ignored by the authorities. We request the government to visit this area, understand the ground realities, and provide all necessary facilities to the local population,” he said.

The SBSP delegation reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the rights of the local people and pledged to raise their concerns at higher forums to ensure development and inclusion in mainstream tourism initiatives.
