Bandipora, Aug 7: SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, Shri Ravinder Pal Singh (JKPS), along with DySP Traffic, DTI’s, and Sector Officers, paid a special visit to the remote Gurez Valley in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, with the aim of strengthening traffic management and ensuring public safety in the region.
The Gurez Valley, known for its breathtaking landscapes and growing tourist footfall, presents unique challenges due to its rugged terrain, narrow roads, and unpredictable weather conditions. In light of these factors, the SSP’s visit appears to be part of a broader strategy to assess on-ground realities and initiate practical measures for improved vehicular movement and safety.
During the visit, the team likely focused on key areas including Dawar, Habba Khatoon, Churwan, Sheikhpora, Badoogam, and Tulail — all of which are critical routes for both locals and tourists.
Some of the core areas under assessment during the visit may include:
Road Safety: Identifying accident-prone stretches, proposing the installation of safety barriers, improved road signage, and stricter enforcement of traffic norms.
Traffic Management:Planning for smoother traffic flow during peak tourist season to avoid congestion, especially on narrow mountain roads.
Emergency Response Preparedness:
Reviewing the availability of emergency response services and suggesting improvements for faster medical and rescue interventions.
Community Engagement: Interacting with locals to raise awareness about road safety and encouraging responsible driving behavior.
The special visit underscores the Traffic Department’s proactive approach in reaching far-flung areas like Gurez, ensuring that safety and connectivity are not compromised, especially as the region gains popularity among tourists and adventure enthusiasts.
By addressing these challenges head-on, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir reiterates the department’s commitment to improving road infrastructure and ensuring safer travel for all in Kashmir’s remote regions.
