Kulgam, Aug 07: In a focused operation to curb the circulation of banned literature, Yaripora Police conducted searches at five bookstores in the Yaripora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The drive is part of a district-wide initiative aimed at enforcing the ban on 25 books that have been accused of promoting false narratives and secessionist ideologies.

The inspections were carried out to ensure that no banned or objectionable material is being sold or stocked in the area. The action comes in the wake of ongoing efforts by Kulgam Police to monitor and restrict the spread of content deemed a threat to public order and national integrity.

Official sources said that a team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) Yaripora visited several bookshops in the town on Thursday. The officials checked shelves and inventories to verify that none of the banned titles were being kept for sale.

Officials stated that surveillance and enforcement actions will continue in the coming days.

Residents have largely welcomed the move, expressing hope that it will help prevent the spread of radical ideologies, particularly among the youth.
