New Delhi, Aug 14: Janata Dal (United) Jammu & Kashmir President, G.M. Shaheen, today met the Hon’ble Union Minister for Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, at his official residence in New Delhi.
During the meeting, Shaheen highlighted the urgent need for a special package for people associated with the tourism sector in Jammu & Kashmir, particularly those whose livelihoods have been severely affected in recent years.
He also urged the Hon’ble Minister to take up the matter of reducing airline fares to Jammu & Kashmir, noting that high ticket prices are discouraging tourists and affecting the state’s tourism-driven economy.
Shaheen further appealed for the promotion of newly identified tourist destinations in J&K and requested that the Kreri–Wagoora constituency be included in the official tourism map of the Union Territory, given its untapped potential for eco-tourism, heritage tourism, and cultural promotion.
The Hon’ble Minister gave a prominent assurance to address these issues and promised to consider the request for a special package for the tourism sector in J&K.
Shaheen expressed his gratitude to Shri Shekhawat for his positive and encouraging response, stating that such initiatives would significantly boost tourism and economic activity in the region.
