Srinagar, Oct 31: With the JKSSB Junior Engineer (Civil) examination slated for November 2, hundreds of aspirants from across Kashmir have urged the authorities to postpone the test, citing severe travel disruptions due to simultaneous events and traffic restrictions in Srinagar.

A group of aspirants told Jammu Kashmir News Service (JKNS) that the exam date coincides with the International Marathon being organized in the summer capital, for which police have already issued an advisory announcing extensive traffic curbs and diversions across the city.

They added that the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway (NH-44) for upward traffic, combined with restrictions linked to the Darbar Move, will make it extremely difficult for aspirants travelling from South Kashmir districts like Anantnag, Kulgam, and Shopian to reach their examination centres on time.

“We have been preparing for months, but these restrictions mean many of us might not even be able to reach Srinagar. All we ask for is a fair chance,” said a group of aspirants in a joint appeal.

The candidates further expressed concern over the late exam timing (2:30 PM–4:30 PM), saying that returning home after dusk would pose safety and logistical challenges, especially for female aspirants.

Appealing to the JKSSB and Divisional Administration, the aspirants requested immediate intervention to reschedule the examination to a “convenient and accessible date,” ensuring that no candidate is left out due to factors beyond their control. (JKNS)
