Kulgam, Nov 11: In the aftermath of the recent blast in Delhi, security has been heightened across Kulgam district, with police and other security agencies stepping up surveillance to avert any potential threat. The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway — a crucial and sensitive transit corridor in the Union Territory — has been placed under strict security watch as part of the enhanced precautionary measures.
On Tuesday, Kulgam Police, in coordination with other security forces, carried out intensive frisking and checking operations at several locations across the district and along adjoining stretches of the highway. The drive was personally supervised by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary, who monitored ground deployments and reviewed the security grid.
Speaking to reporters, SSP Choudhary said the operation was part of the district’s regular security preparedness, now intensified in the wake of the Delhi incident. “Our forces are fully alert and committed to ensuring the safety and security of citizens. These measures are preventive and aimed at maintaining peace in the region,” he said.
Reiterating the police’s firm stance on law and order, the SSP added, “We are sending out a clear message — anyone attempting to disrupt peace will face a swift and uncompromising response.”
