Kulgam, Nov 21: The Revenue Department Kulgam on Friday carried out an anti-encroachment drive at Hanad Chawalgam to clear government land allegedly occupied by encroachers.
The operation was supervised by Tehsildar Kulgam Nisar Ahmad Wani and Naib Tehsildar Kulgam Nisar Ahmad Mantoo, along with teams from the Revenue Department and Municipal Council Kulgam.
Speaking to the media, Tehsildar Nisar Ahmad Wani said the land had been allotted to the Floriculture Department for the development of a park on 50 kanals of land. He said that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project had already been completed and work would begin soon.
“Unfortunately, encroachers had occupied the said land, which forced us to act,” he said, warning the encroachers to vacate the government land immediately. He added that any further attempts to occupy state land would be dealt with strictly.
Officials said similar anti-encroachment drives will continue in the coming days as part of efforts to safeguard government land and prevent illegal encroachments.
