Srinagar: under the leadership of JDU President G.M. Shaheen, accompanied by State General Secretary Abrar Ahmad Bhat.
The event witnessed an impressive influx of young and dynamic individuals who formally aligned themselves with the Janata Dal (United), reaffirming their trust in the party’s principled politics, unambiguous public stance, and the resolute leadership it continues to demonstrate in Jammu & Kashmir.
Extending a warm welcome to the new entrants, G.M. Shaheen remarked that the youth constitute the very spine of J&K’s socio-political future, and their proactive engagement is indispensable for steering the Union Territory towards stability, progress, and a robust democratic ethos. He exhorted them to immerse themselves in grassroots organisational work and to uphold the values of transparency, service, and disciplined political conduct.
Addressing senior leaders and functionaries, Shaheen issued a clarion call for intensified mobilisation ahead of the forthcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Body (ULB) elections. He underscored the necessity of reinforcing booth-level structures, enhancing cadre coordination, and expanding outreach to every segment of society, particularly those long deprived of responsive governance.
In a sharply worded criticism, Shaheen castigated the Omar Abdullah–led government for its conspicuous inability to honour its own promises. He said the administration has repeatedly failed to deliver on commitments made to the people, thereby deepening public disillusionment and exposing a culture of governance marked more by rhetoric than by results. He asserted that the people of Jammu & Kashmir deserve accountable leadership — not a regime perpetually retreating from its own assurances.
