Pattan, Dec 22: The Traffic Police Rural Kashmir on Saturday launched a major crackdown against traffic violators in the main market area of Pattan to strengthen road safety and ensure strict enforcement of traffic norms.
The enforcement drive was led by SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Ravindra Pal Singh along with DSP Traffic North Mujahid Nazir.
Officials said the operation focused on curbing frequent violations, including overloading of vehicles, driving without seat belts, and riding two-wheelers without helmets or valid driving licences.
During the drive, several passenger vehicles were seized for operating with incomplete documents and for being involved in multiple traffic violations. The department intensified enforcement in view of the rising number of road safety violations in rural areas.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Ravindra Pal Singh categorically stated that no violating vehicle will be allowed to operate within his jurisdiction. He further warned that unregistered vehicles, particularly those plying with New Delhi registration without proper documentation, will be seized without any leniency.
Authorities also cautioned that stringent legal action will be taken against underage drivers and those involved in stunt driving, stating that such reckless behaviour poses a serious threat to commuters and pedestrians.
The traffic department said the drive will continue in the coming days across rural Kashmir to ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations and to promote safer roads.
