Kulgam, Dec 27:Acting on complaints of overcharging by street vendors and petition writers in Kulgam town, the administration on Saturday carried out surprise inspections across the area. The drive was led by Naib Tehsildar Kulgam, Nasir Ahmed Mantoo, along with his team.
During the inspection, officials visited multiple street vendors and petition writers, checking displayed rate lists and verifying whether services were being provided strictly as per the approved rates. The action followed complaints from students and members of the general public, who alleged that excessive charges were being taken for online services and related work.
Speaking to media persons, Naib Tehsildar Kulgam said that the administration has taken the complaints seriously and assured students and the general public that overcharging will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He added that clear instructions have been issued to ensure strict adherence to the prescribed rates.
He further appealed to the general public to immediately report any future instances of overcharging to the authorities. “If anyone faces this issue again, they can contact us directly, and strict action will be taken against the violators,” he said.
