Srinagar, Jan 27: Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) State President Vivek Bali has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the delay in snow clearance on several important roads, particularly in the higher reaches of the Valley.

He criticized the concerned departments for what he termed as a complete failure in managing snow clearance despite advance warnings from the Meteorological Department about heavy snowfall.

Vivek Bali said that due to the lack of timely snow removal, frequent accidents are being reported, with vehicles skidding off roads because of slippery conditions caused by accumulated snow. He alleged that instead of effective action on the ground, authorities are limiting themselves to social media statements, making false and tall claims of being fully prepared for snowfall.

“The reality on the roads clearly exposes these claims. If the departments were truly prepared, people would not be risking their lives every day while travelling,” he remarked.

The SBSP leader further stated that residents of higher altitude areas are facing severe hardships as snow-covered roads have disrupted normal life, affecting access to healthcare, education, and essential supplies. He emphasized that advance planning and deployment of machinery were missing, leading to the present chaos.

Urging immediate intervention, Vivek Bali appealed to the Lieutenant Governor’s administration and concerned authorities to ensure early and effective snow clearance on all vital routes, especially in higher reaches. He said, “People are suffering immensely due to official negligence. Timely snow clearance is not a favor but a basic responsibility. Authorities must act on the ground, not just issue statements, to prevent further accidents and ease the hardships of the public.”
