The Prime Minister made these remarks after holding wide-ranging talks with Finnish President Alexander Stubb in New Delhi.

Addressing the media, Modi said that India and Finland share common values rooted in the rule of law, dialogue, and diplomacy. “India and Finland both believe in the rule of law, dialogue and diplomacy. We agree that no issue can be resolved through military conflict alone,” he said.

Referring to the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia, the Prime Minister reiterated India’s support for peace and diplomatic solutions. “Be it Ukraine or West Asia, we will continue to support the swift end of conflicts and every effort towards peace,” he added.

During the discussions, both leaders also agreed to elevate cooperation between India and Finland in the fields of digitalisation and sustainability to the level of a strategic partnership.

Modi said the partnership would strengthen collaboration in several high-tech sectors including artificial intelligence, 6G telecommunications, clean energy, and quantum computing.

The Prime Minister further noted that the proposed India–EU Free Trade Agreement would significantly boost economic ties between India and Finland by enhancing trade, investment, and technology cooperation.

President Stubb arrived in India on Wednesday for a four-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and critical technologies.(KNC)
