Srinagar, May 19: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party president Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari on Tuesday said that if reports of an FIR being lodged against speakers at a condolence gathering for noted Islamic scholar and former Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sheikh Ghulam Hassan are true, the action is “deeply regrettable”.

In a post on social media platform X, Altaf Bukhari said he strongly believes such actions are unjustified, send a disturbing message, and dishearten the people.

“If true, the lodging of an FIR against individuals who spoke at the condolence gathering held for noted Islamic scholar and former Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Sheikh Ghulam Hassan Sahib, is deeply regrettable,” the Apni Party chief said.

He added that the actions were “unjustified” and “send a disturbing message”. (KNS)
