Jammu, June 10: In a major decision aimed at implementing measures for improving policing in Jammu and Kashmir keeping in view the vision of Viksit Bharat-2047, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has posted one senior officer each in the rank of DIGs to SPs as Mentor of every Police Station.

A total of 257 police officers will be adopting 257 Police Stations in the Union Territory.

“The Police Headquarters has released list of 257 senior police officers in the rank of DIGs to SPs, one each of whom will be Mentor of one Police Station,” officials told the Excelsior.

The decision, as per the Police Headquarters order, was part of recommendations made at the DGPs/IGPs Conference in which a selected and need-based approach was stressed for adoption of Police Station on the ground that it is essential to ensure optimal utilization of senior officers’ experience and leadership in realizing the goal of Viksit Bharat-2047.

The approach aligns with spirit of instructions of the DGPs/IGPs conference, and will strengthen institutions, ensure equitable policing and realization of the vision of Viksit Bharat-2047,” the order read.

The list will be valid for one year.

“The police officers will focus on mentoring on personal ethics, values and ethos of Jammu and Kashmir Police in public service and enhance citizen-centric policing and community outreach besides tutoring on the maintenance of various crime and other records,” the order said.

It added that the officers will review existing digital tools available as a part of CCTNS/ICJS and enhanced adoption of current and futuristic technologies like e-beat, role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) etc.

Other issues which the Mentor officers will monitor at their allotted Police Station include upkeep, cleanliness and aesthetics of Police Station premises and residential quarters,adequate availability and cleanliness of toilets for staff, visitors and also in the lockup and presentable reception areas in the Police Station for public

As per the order the officers shall restrict themselves to this referred charter of duties and not interfere with routine work of Police Stations like crime related matters and supervision thereof, matters which are in administrative and financial control of District Police Office (DPO), operational matters and grievance redressal especially in service matters which could be addressed at DPO/RPHQ/ZPHQ level.

Among significant Police Stations, DIG Rayees Mohammad Bhat has been allotted Shergari PS in Srinagar, Rajiv Pandey, Nishat and Sridhar Patil Janipura. Mubassir Latifi has been given Nagrota Police Station, Rajeshwar Singh Gool, Jatinder Singh Johar Gandhi Nagar, Swaran Singh Kotwal Kanachak and Zahid Manhas Gharota.Ramesh Angral has been allotted Rainawarti, Tahir Sajad Bhatt Cyber PS Jammu, Amod Nagpure Pahalgam, Amritpal Singh Rehambal, Sanjay Kotwal Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan, Shailendra Singh Gangyal, Benam Tosh Pancheri, Joginder Singh Miran Sahib, Shamsheer Hussain AHTU Jammu, Randeep Kumar Purmandal, Pawan Parihar, GRP Manwal, Yougal Manhas Peer Meetha, Arun Gupta Ramban, Virinder Manhas Ramgarh, Sanjay Parihar AHTU Udhampur, Shaheen Wahid Kathua, Vivek Shekhar Sharma Lakhanpur, Mohan Sharma City Jammu, Raj Paul Singh Manhas Dharmkund, Munish Kumar Ramsoo, Gourav Mahajan Gursai, Ramnish Kumar Gandoh, Sachin Gupta Dharamshal, Vishal Manhas Mendhar, Dr Ajay Sharma, Loran, Sunil Kumar Kesar Billawar and Shivali Kotwal Satwari among others.
