Kulgam, June 22: Kulgam Police on Monday conducted raids at the residences of Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) members and sympathizers in several areas of the district as part of ongoing efforts to curb activities inimical to public peace and security.
In a statement issued to news agency JKNS, police said the raids were carried out in the jurisdictions of Yaripora, Behibagh and Frisal.
Police said that simultaneously a Narco-Cordon and Search Operation (Narco-CASO) was launched in the same areas to crack down on drug trafficking and substance abuse.
During the operation, searches and verification drives were conducted to identify individuals allegedly involved in narcotics-related activities and take appropriate action as per law, the statement said.
Kulgam Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and public order and said stringent action will continue against terror-supporting elements and drug networks operating in the district.
