Inspectors General, Deputy Inspectors General, and district Superintendents of Police from across the Union Territory were also present.

Officers briefed the DGP on security preparedness and arrangements in place to ensure a smooth, peaceful, and incident-free pilgrimage. The DGP reviewed facilities being set up for the convenience and safety of pilgrims.

Shri Prabhat directed all agencies to strengthen security at vulnerable points, especially along the main Yatra route, the National Highway, and railway infrastructure. He stressed strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and ordered daily briefings for deployed personnel to maintain operational readiness.

He also instructed officers to run awareness campaigns at camp locations, using banners and posters to inform pilgrims about safety protocols and key do’s and don’ts. Highlighting the need for vigilance and accountability, the DGP said there was no room for complacency and called for the highest standards of professionalism.

The DGP emphasized close coordination and timely sharing of information among security and intelligence agencies. He directed forces to intensify efforts to neutralize remaining terrorists and associates in the Valley, and to enhance cordon and search operations around Yatra routes, highways, railway stations, and other critical locations.

He further ordered strict monitoring of social media to counter misinformation and fake narratives, and said legal action would be taken against those spreading rumours or creating panic.

The meeting also reviewed arrangements for the upcoming Muharram observances. The DGP directed robust security measures and close coordination with local Shia associations to ensure smooth conduct of processions. He called for comprehensive traffic management plans and timely publicizing of procession routes to minimize inconvenience.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the collective commitment of all agencies to ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2026 and other religious events in the Kashmir Valley.(GNS)
