Srinagar, June 28: Srinagar recorded the hottest day of the season on Sunday as the mercury touched 33.8°C, amid a sharp rise in temperatures across the Kashmir Valley over the past two days.
An official of Meteorological Department told GNS that generally dry weather is likely to continue across Jammu and Kashmir until the end of June.
A significant change is expected from July 1 to July 4, as a fresh Western Disturbance interacting with advancing monsoon winds is likely to affect the Union Territory.
Meteorologists said the incoming system is expected to trigger widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, gusty winds, lightning and isolated hailstorms in several parts of J&K. The wet spell is likely to bring relief from the prevailing heat, though strong winds and intense showers may cause localized disruptions in vulnerable areas.
Residents, especially in flood-prone and hilly regions, have been advised to stay alert and follow weather advisories.
The rainfall activity is also expected to bring a noticeable drop in temperatures after several days of unusually hot conditions.(GNS)
