Kulgam, Jul 05: A motorcyclist was killed on the spot, while his pillion rider sustained injuries after their motorcycle collided with a bus in the Chawalgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the motorcycle bearing registration number JK18C-9358 collided with a bus bearing registration number JK03P-6442 at Chawalgam.

He said both the rider and the pillion rider sustained injuries in the collision and were shifted to a hospital, where the motorcyclist was declared brought dead. The pillion rider is undergoing treatment at District Hospital Kulgam.

The deceased was identified as Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ama Sheikh and a resident of Chawalgam, while the injured was identified as Javid Ahmad Laway, son of Aziz Ahmad Laway, also a resident of Chawalgam.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further investigation.—(KNO)
